Michael provides fractional CFO-level support primarily to nonprofit organizations. Services include:
During his tenure as a Managing Director and then Partner/Principal with BDO USA, he served as Interim CFO for a private university for three years, a national children's literacy organization for seven years, and for an organization providing services and employment opportunities to individuals with developmental disabilities for two years. He also provided CFO-level support to many other clients in conjunction with overseeing outsourced accounting services for many other organizations.
Michael first served as a CFO in 1999 with the Lt. Joseph P. Kennedy Institute, an organization providing services to children and adults with developmental disabilities, from 1998 to 2001. He then served as the organization's President and CEO from 2001-2004, during which he drove strategic planning, negotiated human services agreements with the D.C. Government, and worked closely with community leaders on navigating a complex regulatory environment. Michael returned to the public accounting sector in late 2004 and since that time has provided or overseen outsourced accounting services to nonprofit organizations and small- to medium-sized businesses through his work with three different firms.
